Soon enough, these ancient journos are gonna catch up and just be normal journos
Soon enough, these ancient journos are gonna catch up and just be normal journos
Yep! Still got more journos!! Thank y'all for your kind words about my lil comics.
These journos become less ancient with each update. I'm gonna run out soon enough!!! Good thing I'm still making em.
It is not my birthday today, but you know what, feel free to treat me like the god-ruler of this Earth regardless
PS, SEE YA AT VANCAF THIS WEEKEND!! (18-19th of May!)
Journos journos!! These are about times I traveled for work. Having a publisher means you get sent places sometimes, and you have to interact with humans in those places. But it also means I get to cross the Georgia Aquarium off my "cool ass aquariums gotta visit" list B)
MORE JOURNOS
The ceiling of the studio in my last apartment collapsed at one point due to a leak that had rotted the wood in the attic (and also leaked every time it rained, causing huge nasty ceiling-water puddles in my studio, where all my important electronics and priceless works of art were kept). So the landlord put some sheetrock over the big hole, which leaked SO much worse. The ceiling almost collapsed again before I finally moved lol
I feel so free now... there are never any puddles near my Very Important artwork. I feel human again
Journos about TRAVELING~
Apologies for how it kinda cuts out at the end, I got tired lol. Also my family is too big, I had to draw too many people in each panel!!
Also... keep your eyes peeled in the coming week.... for a very exciting Kickstarter ;O
THAT'S RIGHT! Volume 2 is finally being collected! You can follow this link to back the Kickstarter and get a lovely and huge book, plus some sweet rewards. It contains almost all the comics since April 2015, including Junior Paleontologist Power Hour, the two mini comic collections, four years worth of hourly comic day strips, and hopefully some very special guest comics. Such as one from Amy T Falcone of Acquisitions Inc fame!
Don't those look nice??
There are also several teirs through which you can get ORIGINAL COMIC PAGES from some of my personal favorite strips, such as Hey You Heard About This Eclipse Or What, The Beast Within, and Summer Heat.
And there's even a tier where you can get original art made by my beloved cat, Spoons! This Kickstarter truly has it all. So back it mayhaps?!
Just a few journos for you this day! I wish I didn't overanalyze every interaction I have with other humans!! Anyway here's photographic evidence of Spoons staring at me through a crack in the door on the other side of the house, unblinking:
ALSO! BACK MY KICKSTARTER!! In the first week we passed the halfway point and are well on our way to the goal :D
The original art tiers are getting snatched up like nobody's business, I had to add nine more after the first couple days. You can now get all the original pages from Creepy Tales, House Hunting, Toronto Visit, three different years of hourly comic day, or ALL THIRTY-SEVEN ORIGINAL PAGES from my short horror comic, The Door In The Kitchen.
Plus all the other neat rewards, like the Spoons sticker, bookmarks, or signed bookplate. Check it out why dontcha?
For a long time our family couldn't get together on Christmas itself, so this was a very special occasion. And we ate SO much food.
PS the Kickstarter is 75% funded!! We're so close! And the original art tiers are goin QUICK-- only House Hunting, Creepy Tales, the three Hourly Comic Day sets, and all thirty-seven pages of The Door In The Kitchen are left. Yay!! Please take all this paper off my hands before I have to move again, it is very heavy!
In which I play a Video Games. I am not one who Games, but I have enjoyed the Witchy 3 very much!! And now I have a house in Runescapes, which brings me great comfort.
Also it's the LAST WEEK to back the JSPH: Volume 2 Kickstarter! We just passed $26k yesterday and are so so close to funding :O
There will be more original comic pages tiers added this week, and once we fund I'll reveal the rest of the stretch goals. Thanks to everyone who has supported thus far!
You've only got until WEDNESDAY AT NOON Eastern time to back the Junior Scientist Power Hour: Volume 2 Kickstarter! The project funded this past friday, but now we should try n hit as many stretch goals as we can >:3
The first stretch goal, a guest comic by famed DnD player and illustrator Amy Falcone, has already been hit, and now we're steadily creeping up on $40k and the very exciting SPOONS PIN
A twitter poll decided they liked the arm pin the most, but if we somehow manage to hit $50k, I'll print BOTH of these top voted pins.
Yesterday I did a handful of sketch requests for donations, both to the Kickstarter and my paypal, to help us get to the stretch goals. I intend to do even more today, starting at around 1 pm est over on twitter. Though if you'd like, you can also email me at abby.howard.art@gmail.com with any request you have for a little 10 minute sketch and either pledge to the Kickstarter or send a small donation (min $10) to my paypal (or Ko-Fi, if you prefer)! All donations will count towards the Kickstarter goal and bring us ever closer to ~Spoons pins~
The only rules I have are 1. no real people, 2. no non-kobold, non-kenku DnD characters (kitty cat people also okay). Here are some examples from yesterday:
I can't wait to draw more!!
IT'S THE LAST DAY! The Kickstarter ends tomorrow around noon, so if you've been holding off, now is the time to pledge to get this big beautiful hardcover (plus all the other good stuff that comes with it.)
I've just implemented a last day sale for all the remaining original page tiers-- all the hourly comics day strips as well as Bigfeet are now only $200 each, and The Door In The Kitchen (all 37 pages!) has been lowered to $1000!
There's also a new $200 tier where you can request all the original pages from the comic of your choice, so long as it's not already spoken for. Just shoot me a message on Kickstarter or wherever is most convenient (twitter, email (abbyhoward.art@gmail.com), etc) and let me know which comic you're interested in owning!
And I hope all of you have a lovely day, you're the best, and I love you
Phew!! The Kickstarter is done! (I should probably get rid of the "back my Kickstarter" header soon...... probably)
I commissioned several guest comics to go in the book, and as the PDF should be going out to backers in the next couple days, I thought I'd post their comics here for all to see, since everyone did such a great job!
First up is my old pal and ex-roommate Amy Falcone, who had to put up with so much while we lived together. Thanks for being so forgiving of my eccentricities and making such a lovely comic for me, Amy!
And now, guest comics from MY SIBLINGS! They're the best >:D
Next up on the Guest Comic roster from JSPH: Vol 2 is my dear friend Sophie Wolvin (aka Biologizeable, @biologizing on twitter)! We went to Science School together, and she's gone on to work with jellyfish in an aquarium. She's so cool!!
Today's guest cartoonist: Maki Naro! He shows scenes from his neighborhood Duck Watch, illustrating them beautifully. I'm glad he decided to write about the ducks, as someone who religiously follows his duck updates on twitter.
Last but not least-- a man who needs no introduction, Zach Weinersmith, the creator of Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal and so so many amazing books!
A huge thanks to Zach and all the other folsk who supplied such lovely comics for the second and final volume of Junior Scientist Power Hour.
JSPH has officially retired, but I'll still post journal comics from my Patreon from time to time (my Patreon is going to be revamped next month, as well!)
Thanks to everybody who's ever read JSPH. It was my first webcomic, and without your support, I wouldn't have fulfilled my lifelong dream of being a full-time cartoonist. I can't express how much that means, and how important you all are to me! I hope you all enjoy what I have in store, and know that you were instrumental in allowing it to come to fruition.
Me last week being instantly Palpatine'd by the concept of doing more work
Don't worry, I'm working on getting rid of the "Kickstarting now" logo at the top of the page advertising a year-old Kickstarter XD
CLICK HERE to check out the Spoons (the cat) The Plush Kickstarter!
CLICK HERE to go to the JSPH store and buy a book/pin/possum plush/WHAT HAVE YOU!
The Spoons plush is, in all honesty, amazing and I love it. Even though it's a cartoony design, it still makes me do a double-take when I see it out of the corner of my eye because I think it's Spoons. There's even a tier where you can get a HAUNTED Spoons plush, complete with certificate of haunting and a brief description of what ghost lurks in your particular plush >:D
The Spoons plush KS ALSO has these incredible pins, which are available to all tiers over $50 (besides the one where you get two plushes):
There are also tiers where I'll draw you as a cat or your cat as a human! You gotta go check outh the Kickstarter, it is very fun.
And as for goods that'l arrive a little sooner, over in the shop you can now get the JSPH Volume 2 hardcovers that were Kickstarted last year along with several of the goodies that came with it, such as Spoons stickers and the Tooth Hugs pin!
You can ALSO get the opossum plush I Kickstarted last year and the Trash Cat pin that came with it~
The store has a bunch of really good stuff in it for folks who are fans of JSPH or any of my other projects, so check it out if you wanna support an artist in these precarious times ;0
NOTE: Due to the current pandemic, the warehouse won't be shipping anything out until at least after April 7th. But you can still make orders!
