My beloved sister Maddie is ALSO a comic-drawer so she made a guest comic! Probably the first of several. And she has this to say:
You guys think Abby is so great, huh? The spookiest, most skull-owning, most able-to-draw-straight-lines-

It feels so good to draw jokes again!! Wow has it ever been a while. I finished up my mysterious big project around Jan 14th and have been slowly getting back on track since. I'll be doing my best to update JSPH regularly again, and The Last Halloween will be coming back next week.
For those who don't know what all this is about, it was Hourly Comic Day yesterday, a day where cartoonists draw a comic for every hour in the day. Most of them are journal comics, like these. I always think it's fun to take a peek at my fellow cartoonist's daily lives! Even the boring stuff.
See you again... at some point in the near future!!
Hey look, I wrote and illustratd a whole book about the Mesozoic, wow! You can pre-order it on Amazon!!
You can also pre-order it through many fine booksellers on the Abrams site, and you should~
And yes, as the comic says, I am switching JSPH to an "update whever I can" schedule, which it's basically been on for many months now. I have a lot going on, and keeping up with it seems to have become a little impossible! But there will still be a Volume 2 released some day, never you fear.
Thanks to everyone who came to see me at Emerald City Comic Con! It was lovely to see you all, and I hope you had a good time.
(And for those who may be worried about The Last Halloween's update schedule, never fear, I am still very determined to get back to weekly TLH updates!)
Who WOULDN'T want to marry a lizard, come on.
PS...... you should pre-order my book about dinosaurs. JUST SAYING!!
Hot new prank! Prank your friends!! Prank your enemies!!! Prank... yourself??!!?
Also ssh don't look at how janky some of these gifs are.... I am very tired
PS, PRE-ORDER MY BOOK ABOUT DINOSAURS. And also other things! There are so many things in this book.
It was my birthday last week so of course I had to have my usual pizza, lest I doom myself once again to The Loop
Also hey!! You know what would make this birthday extra special? If you bought my fresh new book about the Mesozoic~
Whoa the sun died for a few minutes! Thank you to all those who gave their lives to revive the sun. You will be forgotten, because the government covered it all up.
ALSO HEY, you can buy my book about dinosaurs and also many other things! You should!!
For the full effect, please read the old man's voice in the most Southern Gentlemanly voice you can imagine.
So I posted this comic online the other day
Then I received this strange tweet from the renowned purveyor of Office Supplies, Staples:
Naurally, I sent them a DM. And they asked for my home address, which I gave them, because I do not fear death. Anyway I'm sure they'll soon send their representative to administer the Deal, and that's fine, people die all the time, it's totally fine. How did that story end anyway? I've only seen the movie and it kind of fell apart after the first few minutes. I'm sure it ended happily.
Anyway I'm sure this is exactly what they wanted me to do but that's too bad because I thought this was a fun idea for a comic, and if they've made a corporate shill out of me, at least I get some sort of Office Supply out of it.
HEY!! So I know it's been a little while, but that's because I've been workin on comics behind the scenes, such as this short horror special which you can read over on TerrorTown! HAPPY HALLOWEEEEN.
Additionally, I've been working on the next book in the Earth Before Us series, which is going into inks this week, so I will once again be swallowed by projects I can't yet share. That means updates still won't be back for a little while, I'm afraid! But it also means there'll be another Earth Before Us next year, so that's a pretty good trade-off.
Also, this comic is based on a true door:
Heyo!! It has been a while, my poor dear friends. I've been locked away for several months working on the next installment in the Earth Before Us series, Ocean Renegades. But now that's done, so here, have a big ol bunch of comics from last week's Hourly Comics Day!
Also hey, I'll be at Emerald City Comic-Con in just a few weeks, so y'all should come see me on the skybridge (booth 1102) in Seattle from March1-4th if you want you some sweet comics. I'll even be on a panel about women in horror at 1:15 on March 4th! SEE YOU THERE, SQUARES
Also also, I have been posting little comics like these to Patreon with more regularity than I update here, in case you need your little autobio fix~~
Look, if they re-attach the arm it's just gonna be a whole thing, I'm sure the doctors have better things to do, I don't need two whole arms anyway.
But what I DO need is for you to pre-order my new book and also come see me at Emerald City Comic-Con this weekend!! The book is the next in the Earth Before Us series, Ocean Renegades. It's all about the Paleozoic (the time before the dinosaurs) and features many wild and wacky creatures from the earliest days of animal life.
And if you're interested in the first book in the series, Dinosaur Empire, you can buy it on Amazon or even get it in PERSON if you come see me at ECCC this weekend! I'll be on the skybridge at booth 1102 with TopatoCo, and I will have a bunch of books and also cookies. I'll also be on a Women In Horror panel on March 4th at 1:15 pm, you WON'T wanna miss it. See you there!
I am sorry for this comic
ALSO, will you be at Crypticon in Seattle from May 4-6, or perhaps TCAF in Toronto from May 10-12, or perhaps VanCAF in Vancouver from May 19-20? I will be at all those places with a new collection fo mini comics as well as a print edition of The Door In The Kitchen so you should come see me!
AND you shoud pre-order the next installment in the Earth Before Us series, Ocean Renegades! It is a very delightful and lovely book, IMO.
The deepest shame is felt the morning after such a sinful feast. I am surely damned to hell for what I've done under the influence of The Beast. So many calories... so late at night......
HEY WOW, I'm doing THREE CONVENTIONS IN A ROW in May! The first one is this weekend (May 4-6) in Seattle, a horror convention called Crypticon that you should all go to so I don't have to lug a whole bunch of books up to Canada for my next convention, TCAF in Toronto from May 12-13. And you should also go to that one because I'll be premiering some very cute dinosaur pins you won't wanna miss! And the weekend after that I'll be over in Vancouver for VanCAF from May 19-20 to wrap up this convention marathon. Come and see me pleeease!
Also, in case you ain't heard, I'm a cool big shot who has another graphic novel coming out this year, the next book in the Earth Before Us series, Ocean Renegades! It's all about the creatures that lived in the Paleozoic, the time before the dinosaurs, and how they came to conquer the land. It's got fish, it's got fish but with legs, it's got fish that aren't even fish. What more could you want in a book?
Big ol' feet... so lonely out in the woods
PHEW I just finished a whole month of conventions! Thank you to everybody who came to see me, I had a lovely time. I'll also be at anOTHER convention next month: Heroes Con down in Charlotte, NC, my hometown. June 15-17th, see you there??
Also you should pre-order my book that's coming out August 11th! It's about the weird world of animals before the time of dinosaurs and it is very good!
Me boyf and I were stuck in a bus station for a few hours and alas, there was a very talkative young man who decided we looked like his kinda people. Believe it or not, he was overall very charming, but we think that may be because he was a demon in disguise as a human.
It was Hourly Comic Day again! My favorite day!! Here are the comics I made about a day last weekend so I didn't have to write comics about how I had to catch up on drawing comics for like 5 hours.
My friend couldn't make it to her Winter Wildlife Cruise so she offered me her tickets! We got to go see the birds, and rocks.
Yep, I got me a Kickstarter goin on-- for my very first plush! An adorable, soft opossum, perfect for humans and furries alike.
BACK NOW to get your plush and/or pin!
ALSO HEY, I'll be at Emerald City Comic Con this very weekend with all my merch, at BOOTH KK19. I'll also be on a panel all about autobio comics on Sunday the 17th at noon in TCC L3-R1. Be there or be somewhere else, I cannot control your life. But it'd be cool if you did come and see me :3
AND THEN I'll be at PAX EAST from the 28th to the 31st of March! Up in bandland, near the entrance-- hopefully pretty hard to miss ;0
I decided I should start posting some of my old journos, since the only place they currently exist is in a nearly sold-out run of mini comics and over on my patreon (where I post a decent, fresh chunk monthly). So we're starting with these positively prehistoric journos from... gosh.... five years ago?? Hope you likes 'em! There's more where these came from.
ALSO, I have a kickstarter going on right now!! Do you love opossums? Well then why not get yourself a stuffed one? Come on down to my kickstarter and get a opossum pin, a opossum plush, or both!! Let yourself live a little.

Back at it again with these old journos! You can catch up on more old journos and see the fresh, new ones over on my Patreon ;0
PS, WERE YOU AWARE? I have a Kickstarter going on right now! If you think you've never wanted your very own opossum, you're lying to yourself and should back my Kickstarter to get your very own stuffed opossum buddy (and also a pin, or JUST the pin, whichever you want!! The world is yours for the taking!!)
ALSO, I'll be at PAX East in bandland this Thursday-Sunday. See ya there?!
THAT'S RIGHT, we got some more journos from way back when Jurassic World was only a few months old and the sequel was but a horrible stain upon the horizon.
AND ALSO! MY KICKSTARTER FOR OPOSSUM MERCHANDISE IS IN ITS LAST WEEK! Click here to go check it out!
I've also just added two limited original art tiers where you get a drawing of you as an animal hangin out with your opossum buddy:
I hope people back these tiers so I can draw more of these very fun images
